Our founder director Ramanjit Kaur conceived the webinar series “Arts Alive – The Arts, The Artists, and The Times”, to document and archive the creative experiences of the artists worldwide, before, during, and after the pandemic.
The Indo-Pacific segment of ‘Arts Alive’ was co-curated by Ramanjit Kaur and director Tammy Brennan (Director, Testimony Arts, Australia)
Libby Harward is a Quandamooka artist of Moreton Bay in Queensland, and a descendent of the Ngugi people from Mulgumpin (Moreton Island) living in Brisbane and the Gold Coast. She works as both a solo street artist and a conceptual visual artist. Libby’s work engages traditional custodians in their evolution on mainland country which has become highly urbanised and calls for an artistic response that seeks to uncover and reinstate the cultural significance of place, which always was, and remains to be there.
Wendy Murray is a visual artist who works out of studios in Sydney and Los Angeles. Murray’s work addresses social and political issues through drawings, poster making and public art works. Drawing has always been the foundation of Murray’s arts practice but it wasn’t until 2010 that she committed to a daily drawing practice. Over ten years Murray has completed more than 300 drawings. These intricate, gentle drawings have been collected by institutions including Lake Macquarie, City Gallery, Bathurst Regional Art Gallery, and the University of Sydney.
Leena Kejriwal is a photographer and social artist based in Mumbai and Kolkata. A brand ambassador for Fuji India, in 2014 she founded The Missing Project, a campaign against sex trafficking and slavery with the single purpose of creating mass awareness. Her approach to create social impact by making the public a catalyst against trafficking through art and (inter)active technology makes The Missing Project a game-changer in the anti-trafficking domain. It won the Thomson Reuters Anti trafficking campaign of the year award in 2021.
